Elevator Pitch for Property Rehabbing
No comments yetWe could be experts in property rehabbing but be totally lame when it comes to talking with people in unexpected places.
For example, you’re on your way to see a client and on the elevator you overheard a man talking to someone on the phone about an old house they might put up for sale because of debt problems. You’re interested in letting him know that you do property rehabbing. What will you tell him?
For many, it could be, “Hi, I’m Joe. I buy houses. ” This is fine although, it would perhaps be better to be a bit courteous. You may revise you elevator pitch to, “Hi, I’m Joe. I’m sorry but I overheard your conversation. I buy old houses and if you’re interested in selling it, please give me call. Here’s my card. Just in case you decide to sell it.”
You can also tell that person that you are an investor and you can close really fast although a bit lower than retail buyers. In any case, the point is to open a future conversation with that person. You negotiate the deal in the elevator, but you can give him your business card so you can meet up later. Then, buy the house and use it for a home rehab.
Also, remember to stress that you can help them and there’s something in it for them. Otherwise, you’d just appear as someone who brags to another person who actually is in a worse financial state.
